Started finding his antlers as a 3 year old scoring around 150 , then a single antler that would of been 180, fallowing year he hit 205 i found both antlers, year after he hit 254, last year we found the left single antler in the pic, we made a reproduction so we could. There was more guess work and skill involved and people did a lot of missing.

I think the rut might start in december, but it varies on unit, so i don�t think all late december hunts are. Assuming you are hunting in a unit where will see several mule deer during the hunt, 3x3 or better is a winner winner venison dinner for me. If you cannot scout, find a unit that�s open until 10/31 and focus on the last week. I�m just 1 animal away from finishing my colorado archery big 8. Most hunters aren�t passing up a 160 buck.
Since that is probably a 3.5 year old buck if it has b&c genetics it just makes it tough for them to grow up. Keep in mind that there are mule deer areas where, genetically, it is common for no browtines or weak browtines, even for big mature deer. (mule deer) pushing does around.drew back on a 3x3 at 60 yards, but he didnt stay long enough for me to get a shot off.its dang hard with so many does watching.
Congrats on a first mule deer. Scoring can help field judging. Management bucks are not meant for scoring but rather for their unique character.

Hard to guess the score on pictures like those but id say 172 and 165 click to expand. You will find the 2 and 3 year old bucks nosing some does those last couple days, every single year, in less brutal country. It was removed from an old mount and the skull plate has been split or cut but fits tight back together very normal ware for extra large heavy old antlers serious.

A mule deer buck will be a nice finish to this goal i set some years ago. If you glass lots of bucks over the years then can look at the buck to age. With people being able to kill deer consistently at 600+ yards its very hard for a deer to get one of those two items.
